Step One Motorsports ambassador Chandler Smith will compete for the 2022 NASCAR Truck Series
title after securing his place in the Championship 4 with 10th at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

The 20-year-old native of Talking Rock, Georgia, started the penultimate race of the season from
fourth and got the jump on Christian Eckes and Matt DiBenedetto at the start.

Upon charging to second, Chandler immediately challenged polesitter Ben Rhodes by diving up the
inside of Turn One and ran side-by-side with the reigning champion over the first lap.

After settling into a rhythm, Chandler held second throughout Stage One but began to lose ground
in the final five laps upon being overtaken by Zane Smith for third.

He finished the first stage in seventh after fending off Matt Crafton to the line but resumed the race
in eighth with another fighting start to Stage Two.

Chandler raced competitively inside the top 10 over the next 30 laps and closed the second stage
with 10th before contesting the final 68-lap stage of the day.

By maintaining his form, Chandler secured his 15th top 10 finish of the season to secure his place in
the Championship 4 for the first time in his NASCAR career.

“Man, what a day,” he said post-race. “Proud of the #18 Kyle Busch Motorsports team for fighting all
season and giving us a shot at the championship in a couple weeks!”

Chandler will join Rhodes, Zane Smith, and Ty Majeski in the fight for the 2022 Truck Series title at
Arizona’s Phoenix Raceway on November 4.
