Appearance

For the most part, Subaru decided to maintain the look of the 2019 Outback when redesigning the 2020 model year. The overall shape is the same with small updates here and there. For example, the front grille now has black accents instead of chrome and the headlights and taillights have been tweaked to improve style. There has also been a plastic fender added, and the round fog lights were swapped out with three LED fog lights. However, the 2020 Subaru SUV is 1.4 inches longer and 0.6 inches wider than the 2019 model, and all the length went to making the back seat more spacious.

Features

One of the most notable changes to the 2020 Subaru Outback is the available 11.6-inch touch-screen infotainment system, which comes standard on all except the base model. EyeSight® Driver Assist Technology, a system that monitors traffic movement, optimizes cruise control, and warns you if you drift out of our lane, comes standard on all trims. Available new features include heated seats and a hands-free power liftgate.

Performance

The base engine in the 2020 Subaru Outback is very similar to the 2019 model, except that it produces 182 horsepower compared to the 2019’s 175 horsepower. The real difference is the optional engine. For 2020, Subaru introduced a new 2.4-liter turbocharged boxer engine with 277 horsepower, which is more than the 2019’s optional engine and is more fuel-efficient. Additionally, every 2020 Subaru Outback trim comes standard with all-wheel drive.
